Connection requests are limited to 200 or 300 characters, depending on your LinkedIn subscription and activity level. LinkedIn is not consistent with these limits, occasionally sending automated connection requests without a personal message. To ensure your invitations are sent correctly, you can add an alternate connection request with a lower character limit. We-Connect will automatically send the request with the corresponding limit when running your campaign.

How To Add an Alternate Message

You’re able to add an alternate message to any campaign with an ‘Invite to Connect’ step.

Step 1: Click ‘Add alternate message’ under an ‘Invite to Connect’ step in one of your campaigns.

Below is an example of a campaign with an ‘Invite to Connect’ step. Let’s add an alternate message with a character limit below 200.

Step 2: Draft a connection request that’s under 200 characters.

After clicking ‘Add alternate message’ another text box appears where you can enter your message. You’ll notice the alternate message has a character limit of 200. Don’t forget to save your messages before completing and launching your campaign.

Note: Your alternate message will only be sent if We-Connect cannot send your longer connection request.
