From time to time, LinkedIn may ask you to enter a security PIN to confirm it’s really you. This can happen for a few reasons, such as logging in from a new location, an unfamiliar device, or even LinkedIn checking on your recent activity.
In this article, we’ll walk you through why you might see a verification prompt, what to do next, and how to reduce how often it happens.
How To Resolve a LinkedIn Security PIN
When LinkedIn asks for a PIN, it’s their way of ensuring it’s really you, especially if something about your login or activity looks different.
To resolve the security PIN through We-Connect, you can follow this process:
Choose whether to receive the code by email or SMS (do not choose the authenticator app).
Enter the 6-digit PIN on We-Connect.
Once verified, you'll be able to continue running campaigns on We-Connect.
We-Connect will automatically pause any actions before you enter the security pin. As soon as you're back in, automation will resume without you needing to do anything.
If you don’t have access to the email or phone number listed, you’ll need to either get access from your account holder or reach out to LinkedIn’s support.
How to Avoid Future PIN Requests
While you can’t prevent LinkedIn security pins entirely, there are a few ways to reduce how often they happen:
Minimize action sessions: Multiple logins from different locations can trigger LinkedIn to verify your account. You can check your active sessions here.
Avoid manual activity during campaign hours: If you’re running campaigns through We-Connect, refrain from manual activity (like posting content for leaving comments) at the same time.
Use Sleep Hours: This helps mimic a more human schedule and reduces the chance of unusual activity.
Let Account Warm-Up do its job: New accounts (or accounts returning from a pause) should build up activity slowly over time.
LinkedIn is primarily looking for anything that feels unnatural. By keeping your settings consistent, you’ll blend in with typical user behavior.
