Message auto-fit

How auto-fit shortens connection request notes to fit each account's character limit, so invites never fail to send.

Written by Alex

Auto-fit shortens a connection request note when it is too long for the sending account, so it always sends. No failures, no retry queue. It is on by default.

Account limits

LinkedIn sets the note limit by account type:

  • Free accounts: 200 characters, plus a monthly cap on invites sent with a note (LinkedIn allows only a handful per month).

  • Paid accounts (Premium, Sales Navigator, Recruiter): 300 characters, no cap on noted invites.

We-Connect detects your account type and shows the correct limit in the composer. If you upgrade your LinkedIn account to a paid plan (Premium, Sales Navigator, or Recruiter) and the counter still shows 200 instead of 300, click Resync to refresh your account details.

Why a note can still run too long

The counter measures your template, not the finished note. Variables like [COMPANY] and [TITLE] fill in with different values per contact, and their real length is often longer than it looks in the composer. Stack a few variables and the note can pass the limit for some contacts even though the counter looked fine.

What auto-fit does

When the campaign runs, We-Connect checks each contact's finished note against the sending account's limit. If it fits, it sends as is. If not, auto-fit:

  1. Drops the lowest-priority variables first (such as industry, title, company), keeping the first name and AI Ice Breaker.

  2. Falls back to a shorter version if needed.

The result always fits and sends.

What you do

Nothing. Auto-fit only acts when a note is over the limit. To see a note exactly as it will send, use Preview. To turn it off, use the Auto-Fit to character limit toggle.

Tip: keep notes concise and leave room below the limit, especially with several variables, so fewer notes need shortening.

Alternate message removed

You no longer need to write a shorter backup note. Auto-fit creates it automatically, so the alternate message field is gone.

Coming soon: multi-sender campaigns

When a campaign can send from several accounts at once, some free (200) and some paid (300), auto-fit will fit each note to whichever account sends it. One message, correct for every sender.
